Patriots earn 12 seed

Just announced, Mason will be playing Notre Dame in the first round in Denver, Colorado this Thursday. I like this match up and personally I think we could have drawn a lot more dangerous teams. Also a potential game against Washington State in the second round is also winnable, but I am getting ahead of myself.

Update: Game time is going to be around 9:50 - 10 pm as it is slated for 30 minutes after the 7:20 pm Washington State - Winthrop game.

It's a winnable game...definitely. But, we'll have to keep playing the big D that we played in the CAA tourney, hit some key 3s and other outside shots, and figure out how to negate their tall boys. It can be done. I love our confidence going into this tourney...plus, it helps to be overlooked ONCE AGAIN by all the so-called know-it-alls on CBS and other networks. No one is talking Mason once again...I love it. (Larranaga can use it to our advantage.)

GO MASON.

You certainly have to like the advantage in experience and I have no doubt that Mason will be loose. However, ND is a dangerous team. It should be a great game. And yes, you gotta love the snubs because it just feeds this team. Regardless, I now have another reason to hate The Irish.

Yes, I agree, it will be an exciting first round, i too can not stand Notre Dame, i know its too soon to look in to next season but i am so excited about Mike Morrison, with Coach L.'s coaching and his raw athletic ability this kid can be sick, if he works on his shot....check him out on youtube...

The dunk contest is kind of gay but check his vert at .29mins & 4.03mins

I guess I am in the minority but I don't like this matchup for us.

Not saying we can't win it but I would have rather seen Drake in the 1st Round. I definitely think if we get past Notre Dame we can beat Washington State.

Going to be in Vegas during the tournament, Mason is playing during my dinner reservations, guess I am going to have to change them.

It's going to be an interesting game, I will say that. However, I agree with Trent. The ignoring and smack talking will only help us, and if we go in with this confidence and play how we did in the CAA's, we can definitely win it. I just hope we prove everyone wrong again, it was fun watching Kornheiser and Durbin eat their own words for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in '06.

We won't know if it will be a good match up until you see what Mason team shows up. As far as the match ups go I don't like ND's big man against Will. Any time he gets a big guy with skills he tends to fall of the map. He might still get the boards but the scoring drops or he will score but no defense.

It all depends on if we hit the shots early and get in their faces for defense. John V and D Smith have to hit their shots. Fleming and Birdsong have to show up big with hustle plays.

If the Mason team that started the season with wins against Dayton, and K State shows then no problem. If it is the team that showed up against ECU then watch out.

It will definitely be a great game, that's for sure. But you also have to look at the other end of the spectrum, where Notre Dame isn't getting the respect that they deserve as well: Finished Tied for 2nd in the Big East, Had the most conference wins in school history, ranked 15th in the nation, the first Big East school ever to have back-to-back undefeated home seasons, and has the second longest home court winning streak in the nation!
Yet a lot of the media is calling for the Irish to be one and done. We shall see. I have all the utmost respect for George Mason and Coach Larranaga. This was the one team I didn't want to see in the first round. Oh well, The Irish got the Patriots.

Here's to a great game on Thursday night!
