Countdown to Richmond

So it's all come down to this: win it all in Richmond for a chance at NCAA tournament glory or go home and pray for an NIT or CBI invite. It's difficult to say at this point if an NIT bid is even realistic, especially if Mason gets bounced before Sunday's games. But I am trying to stay positive and you should to, I am for God's sake this team never fails to surprise us am I right? Instead of drowning your sorrows at a bar in anticipation of a CAA tourney loss read this article to restore your hope. After reading this article, it reminds me of how insanely confident Coach Larranaga was back in 2006 despite the odds piled against his squad. His confidence will hopefully rain down to his guys this year, because one of the keys to success that he mentions in this article that they have not demonstrated much this season is having "a loose attitude". They definitely have not have the right attitude on the road this season which in my opinion gives them motivation to right that ship this weekend, because it's not too late. And I wouldn't be this confident if Folarin Campbell wasn't averaging 20.3 ppg over the past 14 games. Our friends over at midmajority.com seem to think we have a chance to take down VCU in the finals. Richmond.com also has a preview of this weekend's action.

Are the games on TV locally? If so, anyone know what station?

Well, it's here. I have no clue what to expect out of our Mason boys. No clue.

The CAA should be a 2 bid league every year from now on. It is so ridiculous that we must prove ourselves every year. The top 4-5 teams in the CAA every year are just as good as the .500 teams from the major conferences. Yet every year those conferences get 4-7 bids and we must have 2 teams have extraordinary years. It is so unfair that it may cause me to just stop caring about college hoops. And I am not talking about just Mason this year. UNCW and ODU should also be thought of as getting a possible bid this year. Look at the past years where Drexel and Hofstra were left out. I hate the NCAA and all the talking heads as much as I hate Maynor.

Neil, I would like to agree with you but the CAA has been very mediocre this year, and the only way we deserve 2 bids is if VCU doesn't win the conference tournament.

I don't understand why the Atlantic 10 is getting multiple bids this year but other than that I don't really have issue with the power conferences getting multiple bids. The level of competition is much higher than what the CAA has to offer.

So Virginia Tech and Maryland are better than Mason, UNCW, ODU? I think not. I watch tons of basketball and am sick of that mentality. Go look at all the major conference bubble teams. Makes me sick to my stomach.

That's what we needed. The defense was brilliant in the 1st half, and we withstood their run in the 2nd.

UNCW - again. It's redemption time.

GO MASON.

Got the win we should get. Hopefully UNCW can't beat us 3 times in one year. If UNCW plays like they did against Delaware we are going to be in trouble.

Should be interesting....

We will need Vaughn and or Vaughn/Long to have a big game or we will not win. Anyone nervous when we were up 17 and then lead started to disappear? Felt like many games this year.

Tough defense wins -
Bill & Mary is playing with alot of emotion and are trying to erase
the fact that they are one of only five schools who have been D-I member institutions since the first season that have never made the men's basketball tourney. Army, The Citadel, St. Francis (N.Y.)and Northwestern are the others.
Let's make them wait another year

Wow. This is the team we knew we had...but, one MUST WIN to go before it's dance time again. We can't overlook W&M...they could have beaten us in Fairfax on 2/27.

GO MASON.

Getting excited but agree with everyone else, William and Mary can't be taken lightly. All year I wondered how they were so good in conference and then I saw them live. They play excellent defense and have some good shooters. Will be a tough game.

Great defense today, and got contributions from everyone, Fleming especially impressed me.

Do you guys think VCU still get's in? I think they should but I have a feeling they wont.

i've liked Fleming all year - nice drop step - i think he will give us great minutes for the rest of the year and next season.

If we play the good perimieter defense like we did tonight - that is the Tribe's game - and we have the better athletes - I do not think that Coach, Folarin and Will are going to let anyone overlook this game.

One huge factor--and quite frankly the reason Mason lost to VCU last year--the tank ran dry down the stretch. This is one of the reasons that a bye can be huge...W&M has played an extra game.
