George Mason recruit Jonathan Arledge plays in Capital Classic All-Star game

Although he was overshadowed by his fellow teammate Eugene McCrory, Mason recruit Jonathan Arledge played in the Capital Classic All-Star game for DC, Maryland and Virginia area players. He finished with 4 points and 2 rebounds in 11 minutes of action and was one of only two players on either roster that is committed to a non-BCS school for next season.

Q & A with one of Bryon Allen's high school coaches

To get more of a feel of what type of player George Mason is getting in Bryon Allen we had a short Q & A session with Matthew Quinn. Quinn was one of Bryon's coaches at St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut where he is currently finishing up his senior year.

What are Bryon's strengths as a player, what does he do best on the court?

Matthew: Bryon is a strong, physical guard who get to the basket well, plays unselfishly, has great court vision, can finish around the rim, and shoots it well from range.

What are any areas he might have to work on in order to play well at the Division I level?

Matthew: Bryon is a solid defender, but will need to continue to improve that to be a great defensively at that level.

How would you rate Bryon as a leader?
Matthew: Bryon is a leader on and off the court.  He is one of the hardest workers in the weight room, classroom, and gymnasium.  He is a great kid and a great leader.

George Mason head coach Jim Larranaga is big on defense as I'm sure you know, what kind of defensive player is Bryon?

Matthew: Bryon is a good defender and playing for Coach Larranaga will only make him better he has all the tools and needs to be more consistent as a defender.

In your opinion do you think Bryon can step in right away and contribute this season for George Mason?

Matthew: I think Bryon has the chance to contribute right away, he is mature kid, hard worker, and has a great physical presence on the court.
