George Mason gets the win at Radford

The Patriots got the win at Radford Saturday as they go on break for finals. Their next game will be at home versus Duquesne, where they will have Andre Cornelius back for the first time this season. Mike Morrison posted his first double-double of the season, Bryon Allen dished out a season-high six assists, and Erik Copes had four blocked shots. Mason never trailed in this one and take care of Radford as they should have.  It was nice to see this team not slow down and finish the game strong.  However the Patriots did manage more turnovers than Radford, 13 to their 12.  They controlled the boards and got solid production from the bench but their are still some fundamental issues the team needs to work out before their slate of CAA games.

I really like what you did w/ that picture. I was at that game and only saw one person shooting this game... Did you steal another picture from Courtside Seats?

Glad they won the game.  It is nice to read the stat line and see the PG get more assists than the 3 or 4.  Turnovers are going to come with trying to push the ball uptempo.  I hate to say it but a lot of that is do to reacting more than thinking.  I saw this at the UVA game and others where Mason would get steals and just expect one of the team to be down court unguarded, then throw the ball down court without looking first.   Copes is still crushing it and I hope that he continues, maybe Morrison is looking over his shoulder a little.  Nice way to finish before break.  Hope they come back refueled and fundamentally sound (that's my Christmas wish).

GO MASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to see Morrison had a huge game and Allen/Wright did pretty nice too, good we to see we can count on those guys (well at least against Radford) for some extra production when Pearson isn't racking up 20+.

A word about shot selection from the point - Allen is 3 for 20 (.150) and Edwards is 1 for 10 (.100) from downtown. Since Vaughns FG% is in a bit of a slump, why don't they swing it out to Pearson and Wright a little more often to toss up the 3ball adn limit that shot from the 1? I think it's safe to say at this point our PGs just can't hit the 3ball off a quick dribble or pick and pop so why are they still taking them? We lose time of possession and create long rebounds for the other team with that shot selection.

Looking a few weeks ahead, the first CAA home game vs. William & Mary will be very telling.  If we play smart, have defensive intensity, and play with composure it tells the rest of the CAA to look out!  Now, if we are sloppy and have 15+ turnovers after almost 3 months of practice it tells the rest of the CAA something totally different.  I'm counting on the first one.
