George Mason will host game 2 of CBI Finals, but not at the Patriot Center

The release just came out and George Mason will be traveling to Santa Clara for game one of the CBI finals. George Mason will host game two and if necessary game three. However, game two on Wednesday night will be held at the RAC. Yes, George Mason is hosting a post-season basketball game at the place the team practices and students play pick-up hoops because the Patriot Center will be holding a "Northern Virginia Regional College Fair" that day. I'm still trying to gather as to whether this could be really cool, because the RAC will be packed to capacity with 1,500 fans, or if this is just plain embarrassing for the program.

Thoughts?

Downright embarassing.....I'm sure way more fans would have wanted to turn up for this one

No one has been showing up to games anyway, might as well make it one hell of an atmosphere and a real home court advantage. What's "embarrassing" is our attendance this year...

Well they have looked like a high school team all year in those nasty yellow uniforms, might as well up it and play in a high school sized gym. Just hope they actually fill it as empty seats would be even worse.

The A10 called... Yeah, about that invite....

RT think outside the Patriot Center! Well it is a practice game so why not play the game at a practice facility. Change the paradigm in which the smaller baller is better when comes to playing in the CBI.

Figured the delay was because they were trying to figure out what to do. I like it, but I do hope we fill the gym - we need to step up our support and show we care if we expect the administration to do the same (I'm w/ Joshua on this one). I am sure the school is spending (losing) money on this tournament, so I think they have done their part for now. We need to do the same.

Less people came to the Semi-Final game then went to the Quarterfinal game, I think most people don't give a shit.

Would have been nice if game one and two were at GMU. That way, if the RAC sold out for game 1, the school could have offered to sell tickets for game 2 as well, guaranteeing GMU fans seats for the second game and if they didn't show, well, donations for offsetting costs for hosting the games.

That scenario wouldn't work because each team has to have a home game in the series. Mason could have just won both at home, series over.

Paul Hewitt and the team have turned a less-than-stellar season into a very fun post-season run....something most of us did not expect. After the Northeastern loss on March 10, I thought we were done with Mason Hoops until November. I, for one, am proud of what the team has done in the CBI and I think this will help provide some positive momentum next season. Look, this has been a banner week at George Mason....we make it to the championship of a post-season tournament and make the move to the A-10. 2006 aside, it doesn't get much better than this. Go Mason!

Its back to the future, used to shoot hoops in the P.E Building, AKA The RAC. Wow the CBI really is low rent. Them again, Georgetown was forced to use the similarly sized on-campus McDonough Gym a few seasons ago in the NIT when the Verizon Center was in use for another event. So its not unheard of.

This is awesome. It will not be an embarrassment with recruits as they know full well we have the Pat Dome on campus. Man you people need to lighten up. This could be crazy!
