Ryan Pearson is the 2012 CAA Player of the Year

Ryan Pearson was named the 2011-2012 CAA player of the year tonight at the annual awards banquet.  Pearson is the first George Mason player to win the award since George Evans won his third consecutive one back in 2001. Pearson received 28 of the 48 first-place votes from the panel, Drexel's Frantz Massenat came in second. Pearson was easily the most talented player in the league this season and it's tough to think George Mason would be a third place team in the CAA this season without him. Also considering the adversity he overcame as a child, this is a huge accomplishment. Congrats to Ryan as he is having an amazing season that hopefully will continue deep into March.

Hope to see "Fear the Beard" t-shirts at pregame at Penny Lane - I think we all should wear them!

Things like this really sink in when you see the names of the past winners. Quite an honor and he was both POY and MVP. Hard to think were we would be without him but we all know where we are now and we will need everybody. At least they have a leader.

Very well deserved, he won about a dozen game by himself for this team this season. Congrats Ryan!

Without a doubt the award is well-deserved!  Ryan adjusted to a new coach, new system, practically played a new position, and still emerged the leader of the team and answered the call when opposing teams made it their number one priority to stop him.

What can I say. Ryan deserved it. Hats off to him and his teamates for making him a better player over the years. May this be the beginning of something special in March not only for Ryan but the whole mason family.

Great job by Ryan.

Evans won 3 straight CAA POY's? That's amazing.

Congrats to Ryan Pearson, he thoroughly deserved to win it. Although I must admit that it's pretty sad that he's the only Patriot who represented at the awards. The other schools have multiple players in multiple categories. Hopefully that changes next year.

Only David Robinson had done that before Evans.

Georgia Tech beat Hosftra by 30s. Will Mason survive tomorrow night? GT played very much like VCU on the press. It is again a test for Mason's back court.
