somewhat related.... has anyone seen how HORRENDOUS Georgia Tech is this year??  9-18 and only 2-11 in the conference.  They lost tonight and scored only 35 points.  Yea, not for the half, for the ENTIRE game!

Looks like they would have been much better off if Hewitt had stayed!!!   Makes me laugh at Tech fans who thought he was the problem!

I think Hewitt was a victim of his own "quick success" and his own recruiting in what was always been all reality a  border-line "second tier" ACC BASKETBALL program (Florida State, Miami, and Clemson are other full-time members of this club in the past who have all had GREAT success...National Titles.... on the Football field, yet "limited success" on the Basketball court). He was unable to every year re-load every year with the constant departure of his stars to the NBA, and not possessing the mystique of Duke, UNC, and to a lesser extent Maryland in recent years he was unable able to "reload" every year so as to maintain their programs so as to continue to make multiple deep NCAA runs/National Titles several times in a decade ... thus Georgia Tech fans grew disenchanted. Looks so far that Mason has been the beneficiary of this attitude and have found a very good coach as a result.

Or you could say Hewitt recruited an atrocious team. He started off well at Georgia Tech as well, I am not convinced we have a great coach.

We're 23-6 despite losing to some really bad teams earlier in the season: what more do you want?

To see it over a 2-3 year stretch, when it is all his players and completely his team. That's not unreasonable, especially for someone with Hewitt's track record of starting well with Georgia Tech, then the team becoming a dumpster fire.

Well we got some decent recruits coming in next year and also the
players transitioned well under a new coach when the naysayers were crying about the departures of coach L and Luke Hancock. Surely that is an acomplishment in itself. But I do agree that he will ultimately be judged 2-3 seasons from now.
