Roller coaster Season not over, expect a CIT/CBI bid

As disappointing as this season may be to most Mason fans, I wouldn't turn my nose up to the thought of these guys playing in the CIT or CBI tournaments. For a young team like this any extra games for them to play together is a good thing. Look at it as a glorified scrimmage or extra practice sessions. There are rumors floating around on Facebook and Twitter that Mason will be hosting a College Insider Tournament game on Tuesday March 16th. As long as they don't put a CIT banner in the Patriot Center I don't have a problem with this. I'm still trying to confirm this information so stay tuned. Let the sports betting begin!

UPDATE: Rumor is confirmed via the Washington Post from Eric Prisbell's bracketology blog "The 65"

"George Mason to appear in CIT. Get excited, Fairfax."

"Mason will host first-round game on Tuesday. If it wins, it will hit the road because the circus is coming to Patriot Center."

And now GoMason.com is reporting it as well. Opponent will be announced this Sunday.

By all means! Hey, there's no shine left to the season, but a tourney is a tourney, and we ought to face an opponent that is relatively evenly matched with us. It's good experience, and besides, once the guys set foot on the floor, who doesn't want to win and advance? A couple of weeks ago we had a bracketbusters tournament. Call these the bracketbusted tournaments.

Definitely storming the court if we win a game.

I remember people stormed the court after we beat Tennessee in the NIT in 2004

I was one of them, shitfaced on St. Patty's Day.

Also, stormed when we beat Austin Peay in the second round. Standards sure have increased since those days.

Hirsch...I like the way you think. I think we may have been at Mason at the same time, too.

Larranaga will definitely got with "you what ODU did with their CIT title last year" and build on the experience. We need a closing to this season that's more positive and builds for 2010-11. Postseason isn't all the same, but our young team can benefit.

Sorry, Hirsch - we weren't there at the same time...if you're only 27, I got a little more age on you.

Ryan...I was at the UT game with my dad. We had an obnoxious UT fan behind us - guy in his 50s - who cursed the entire game and taunted our team. We had "issues" once I started talking back to him.

Hey Ryan I was at the VCU game sitting not far from the bench. I was wondering if you knew why Pearson was going to the locker room what seemed like at every break or timeout. Especially in the second half. Thanks, I meant to ask this a while ago.

This game and tourney is a joke. It's about continuing to try to squeeze a little more tv revenues out of the teams. You think you saw a team that lacked focus and intensity at times this year? Wait 'til you see these games. Cam might bring a pillow out on the court with him. Pearson might be pulling on a 40 during timeouts, towel over his head.

The seasons go on too long as it is, and the players could give a shit about this. So they win a couple of games here. You think they brag about it in the summer leagues? "Yeah, we beat Elon by 4 and then almost got by East Grand Valley State but the refs killed us."

It's like a prom for fat kids who can't get a date for the real dance. Or even the other dance.

I say let them maybe go to class, or not..chill a month or two and then begin training for next year.

This season is like a bad girlfriend that just won't go away.

Sorry Mooky, never quite found out what that was all about with Pearson.

Yea, this tourney is just another game. Nobody knows about it. Any playing time is experience, which is good. Might as well be a scrimmage. Time to end the season and regroup.
