George Mason looking to break home court skid

George Mason returns to their home floor Saturday afternoon against William & Mary. Not an ideal opponent for the Patriots, who are trying to avoid their first four-game home losing streak since the Paul Westhead years. The Tribe are on a three-game winning streak in which they have won by an average margin of 10 points. Their most recent win was over Georgia State and they had an exceptional night shooting the ball. A win Saturday for George Mason would be impressive given the type of defense we've seen from them lately. They got a break against Hofstra on Wednesday and didn't have to do much on defense as the Pride had an awful night shooting the ball. William & Mary on the other hand is on a hot shooting streak. Last time these two teams faced Sherrod Wright shredded the Tribe for 28 points but we haven't seen a performance like that from him in awhile. Overall, an improved performance on defense Saturday would show me that this team was embarrassed for how they played against Georgia State and are still believing in themselves for the CAA tournament. 

Sherrod Wright hasn't been playing his best basketball of the year lately. The offense relies heavily on him and Wright has only reached the 20-point mark once since that beat down they received at Northeastern on January 27. While Jonathan Arledge has stepped up and helped with the scoring load, the Patriots are still more dangerous when Wright gets going. My only criticism of Wright this season has been that he doesn't take over games enough. His lack of aggression at times has really hurt them this year and he's been the best player on the court in many games this season. The inconsistent play for any of the front court players certainly doesn't help and opposing teams are keying in on Wright. Mason needs to find a way to get him going more because 10-12 points from him isn't going to get them anywhere in the CAA tournament.
