George Mason Bracketology Part I

A lot of hype going on around college basketball about George Mason and their NCAA tournament hopes.  The Patriots still have work to do and remember that making the big dance isn't always guaranteed despite how good fans think their team's resume looks.  However Mason does play Top 100 RPI teams in their next three games so the odds are looking more in their favor at this point in time.

Bracketologist all over the interwebs are projecting this year's field of 68 and Mason is included in mostly all of them.  I'm attempting to compile a list of all those projections so please let me know if I'm missing any good ones. These are current projections as February 11th:

Not so fast guys, we are not there yet. Let's first take care of business this weekend. And hopefully win one of following two games then we can talk about our seeding. If we lose this weekend or unable to win the following two road games, I wouldn't bet on our chances of going to NCAA tournament regardless of RPI.

MARK MY WORDS, THE FOLLOWING WILL HAPPEN

VCU wins tournament on their own home court.

George Mason finishes out the REGULAR season with a weak bracket buster victory and a WIN at VCU, final record 24-6. Yes, they choke the last game on the road at Georgia st. Tie break goes to George Mason because of single matchup victory. CAA CONFERENCE CHAMPS.

ODU finishes with great resume' out of conference but comes in 4th in the conference.

Bids go to = VCU and GEORGE MASON.

Mason's upcoming game against the Rams will say a lot. They are quick and long armed and will wreak havoc against a less quick Mason team. That said, this Mason team has handled itself well, has not turned it over like last year's team and is on a mission, it appears. They have an attitude and a step on your neckness that they lacked last year and that is coming from Cam and Luke with the others feeding off that. They will not fade against VCU. Acorn will pressure Rodriguez right back and Morrison (and Williams) up higher giving Pearson and Luke room to move will help. And VCU is not a Grant led squad now and they have had plenty of nights where they just don't show up. They're not that solid but yes, they match up well against Mason.

Good minutes from Tate and Johnny W will be key. Cam could go off if VCU presses and the floor opens up. And they will press.

Johnny Williams is a key to Mason's run from here on out. He has to bang with Bowles tonight.

Great blog Ryan. I just discovered it and am now checking in every day. As far as bracketology goes, I've found the guys at Bracketology 101 to be pretty fair and accurate. I believe they had Mason as a 9 pre-VCU game. You might check them out for Mason Brackeology: Part II
