Patriots to play at GW

This match-up had been mentioned here before, but now there's more confirmation that the Patriots will play at local rival George Washington for the first time since 1998. Post from the GW Hatchet blog:
"Director of Athletics Jack Kvancz confirmed Monday that George Mason’s men’s basketball team will play at GW this upcoming season.

The pairing seems to many to be a natural fit, with the schools not only located close to one another, but also playing in two of college basketball’s best leagues outside of the BCS power conferences. It will be the first time the teams have met since GW bested the Patriots in the 1998 Red Auerbach Colonial Classic at Smith Center."

Hopefully this a start to more local area scheduling, Georgetown and Maryland can't duck us forever can they? Can they?

I don't think Thompson and Williams have any interest in playing us and will keep GMU at arms length. In their view they have nothing to win and everything to lose. GWU is a nice match up and maybe playing American might be a good local game as well.

We played American in their high school gym when they were in the CAA...not much to gain there, considering their lower conference status. The CAA equates to the A-10 in quality, so GWU is a good fit and a team we should beat, based on their recent crappiness. As for Maryland and G-town, they don't have much to gain since we'd beat both...or come close. I could see us having a hard time with Monroe at G-town, but no one on Maryland scares me at all. Our guards would eat up Vasquez (overrated) and Hayes.

I don't like the Twerps at all, but Vasquez isn't overrated. When a player is relatively unathletic and still manages to average 17.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 5 apg in the ACC he's pretty good. I agree that neither of those teams are very good though and they have nothing to gain by playing a mid-major who would probably come out on top on their home court.

Forget about how Vasquez plays, the bigger question is, what the hell is up with that thing that grows on his face during games?
