About last night...

Really not much to read into about last night's exhibition game. Although the loss to Randolph-Macon has made D3hoops.com headlines! I mean really it's an exhibition game, it's doesn't count. It was a glorified scrimmage and you could see how serious Coach L was taking the outcome of the game when he inserted freshmen Andre Cornelius and Ryan Pearson late in the second half with the score close. Great to see those guys getting minutes. The rumor I posted yesterday about Kevin Foster redshirting seems to be true considering he didn't play last night nor did he participate in the pre-game warm-ups. The one thing that does upset me from last night was the poor defending around the perimeter. The Yellow Jackets shot over 45% from behind the arc in the 1st half and then 70% in the second. Wow. After getting blasted by Notre Dame's three point shooting last March you really kind of think this would be a point of emphasis, especially when you are playing a team with zero inside prescence. It wasn't even that Mason shot the ball poorly last night (48.3 FG%) but turnovers were a problem (10 in first half). A learning game for the Patriots, who should at least be lucky some of there weaknesses were exposed now and not at Vermont.

What's your take on the new uniforms?

Love the new uniforms, check out how good we looked compared to Macon wearing the old style. We look sharper which is great.

Disappointed by last night. Exhibition is no excuse! Good to see Dre step up though....this should be an interesting season if last night even gave a hint of how they will play.

I know Coach L will rally the troops but to what kind of a performance? Who knows....

Cam long is a role player. He's afraid to shoot the ball.

Monroe is slow and without a Thomas on the other post he's useless.

Birdsong either can't or won't rebound. He's a role player.

Dre, Vaughn, Pearson and acorn are the only starters who can step up and live to NCAA prime-time min. If we can't find another big man to compliment pearson it's going to be a very long season.

Can anyone get a damn rebound (Big men)

I liked the Unis, save for the pants. you know their too big when birdsong goes after a rebound and they end up around his ankles. I know. . . just tighten the drawstring, but really cornelious looked like an umpa loompa.

I thought AC looked very good for his first game 3:1 TO ratio,2 steals. in his 17 minutes. nice to have a pure PG again.

Dre is nothing more than a role player until he can learn to make shots on a consistent basis.

Also, you would think free throws would be a point of emphasis considering Mason has sucked at them forever but that hasn't seemed to be the case.

Ugh. This could be a looooong year. And I hate the new uniforms. It's the old-school in me.

I liked the new uniforms too. The jerseys are tighter so we look more athletic and professional. Baggy jerseys just make you look sloppy.

Also thought Cornelius looked pretty good. He played with intensity. I hope he develops into a leader and a top player on this team in future seasons.

Hate the new unis. Should have stayed with tank tops instead of the trendy sleeveless compression tops. What's next, black jerseys for away games?

They're not that different really, I didn't really notice at first. The real question is are we going to be Oregon now with new jerseys every year?
