Vaughan surrounded by Duke Nerds

Here is a great picture that can be found on a piece at rivals.com talking about "homecourt advantages" around the country. I really don't understand why more schools don't build their student sections like they do at Cameron. Mason already has a great record at home season after season, now imagine if we could surround the bottom tier of the Patriot Center with our finest drunken frat boys and local skanks in body paint. And yes, this is the kind stuff I think about while not doing work at the office.

Quite the contrary... my fraternity has been showing up in numbers at LEAST 15 strong at all Mason home games (and away games if feasible) for over 8 years. In fact, just a couple years ago we won BB&T Organization of the Year.

But, it's always nice to be stereotyped.

Haha I have tailgated and Ive not had such pleasant experiences. But no harm, I just wanted to make it so that I am not poking fun at frat boys, more poking fun at mason.

Touché, Mr. Kaufman. Indeed, I remember the days when the Mason cops would pose with us for pictures at tailgates and only hauled away the idiots who were belligerent and unruly. As for the rest of us, we always felt like the cops hung around just to make sure everyone stayed safe, didn't try to drink and drive, that sort of thing.

But it hasn't been like that for a while now. It's unfortunate... the tailgates are where you would find some of Mason's most die-hard fans. But in recent years they've begun to be made to feel quite unwelcome. Way to squash some of the only "natural-born" Mason pride this school has.

Does anyone else feel like the Mason "spirit" you encounter today is force-fed to us from the top-down?
