Cam Long talks about his workout with the Golden State Warriors

Cam Long worked out for the Golden State Warriors yesterday along with a few others from Virginia schools (Jamie Skeen VCU, Jeff Allen Virginia Tech). Don't get too excited in hopes of hearing his name called on June 23rd because it probably won't happen. There are rumors that the NBA has plans to cancel the summer league in Las Vegas this year, which would be very unfortunate for a player like Cam who needs every chance available to showcase his talent.  Even if Cam doesn't make it to the NBA these and other workouts will no doubt prove as an audition to play somewhere overseas.

Thanks to everyone that sent his in!

I don't think he will get drafted, you think I'm alone in this? That's not discrediting him, he had a great college career and deserves opportunities like these. It's ok to be a George Mason fan and be realistic however.

The summary of what i just read.
Cam just had a workout with Golden State. Cam's got a chance to get into the NBA. Cam's name probably won't be called on draft day. The NBA summer league is canceled and this means less audition time for a player of Cam's status. All in all, Cam is most likely, but not definitely, auditioning for a spot overseas. Too many people on this board read things they don't want to read and call them negative. It is what it is. I'm rooting for Cam but that's a no brainer. Should he have reported that? Not on this board; It's a given.

That would be cool if we got enough interest.

All of this. Cam will probably have a great career in Europe, his chances of making an NBA roster are very slim. Those are the facts, not hating in the least. 360 roster spots aren't many to go around.

You missed the point out1aw.I would just like this site to Acknowledge Cam's achievements on and off the court rather than the negative spin(s).   Besides, how can you possibly compare a coaches' salary to a student-athlete's accomplishments?  Answer-You can't!!!

This blog, from what i've read, reports the good, the bad and the ugly. Cam's career had all of those, yes? I think you're more fan than reporter, put the other hat on... maybe?

The comparison was sarcastic. The real story is not that Cam won a student athlete award. The real story is, the coach that just left Mason got a 1.3 million per year contract, and the guy who took his place just got close to a million dollar a year contract and a buyout of 5 million dollars. Cam... he got a trophy. It's a slap in the face to all the kids who play at big-time D1 programs (top 50 schools). In a capitalistic market, he should have been given 25,000 dollars for the award. He got the student part (trophy) where's the athlete part (money). These student awards are all insulting. They are a joke. How would you like it, if you brought in two billion dollars worth of new business, and in return your company gave you two free movie tickets and shook your hand? I know it was Mason who gave out the award; it was also mason who dealt out the cash.

You're buying what their selling. i'M NOT. What their selling is opportunity. It doesn't fly in the real world. Do you think that coaches would accept compensation like free classes for themselves? Their kids? And their spouses? Why not extend this same compensation to everyone else? BECAUSE... it is a joke. $$$$$ LOL. Show me the money. All groups of people get exploited. Young college kids are the biggest victims of all. They have no power. They have their youth and opportunity! What a load a garbage!

They also have the option NOT to play basketball for free while getting an education. Maybe they can pay him $20,000 per year but make him pay for everything. THAT would make MUCH more sense. How old are you? Because that is pretty close to the real world. Executives can make millions while the people doing the leg work in a business make enough to cover some expenses. Maybe you should go organize an NCAA Players Union, give them the "power" until the whole system collapses. They aren't forced into playing ball. Your rationale is the garbage.
