Interesting Night...

Well the CAA just got a little more interesting. VCU and Northeastern both fell last night to make the top of the standings a bit more crowded. Mason doesn't have an edge in the tie-breaker scenarios, but there is a still a lot of games left to play and let's be grateful the most important one is at the Patriot Center. I'm saying all this because I really feel like the seedings in the CAA tournament will be ever so important this year. Avoiding VCU in the CAA tournament is pretty much what every team hopes for and with Eric Maynor being a senior this year is no exception. You can whine and complain about the advantage the Rams have playing in their backyard every year but that's just the way it is. Northeastern has little to no post-season experience on their roster and would be the lesser of two evils Mason would want to face before the championship game, should they reach it. Larranaga's always seems to get his team ready for the CAA tourney despite the kind of year they are have. Remember what they did with a #5 seed just two years ago?

It's not just that they lost, it's who they lost to, UNCW and William and Mary, the dregs of the league.

CAA is definitely a 1 bid league this year.

I looked at the schedule and sense I am not a player I can look ahead and try to figure out which should be wins and losses. I count on the Patriots going 6 for 7 in the remaining games. I hope that it comes true but anyway we need wins no matter what.

Remember...the game that doesn't matter is the Creighton game, since it's a non-CAA game. Also, don't forget...the no. 1 seed doesn't usually get the bid in the CAA tourney. VCU did lose to UNCW, but we have to visit Trask before month's end, and like ODU, it's a place where we don't play our best.

I agree. For a team that plays as luke-warm on the road as this one, the UNCW game is big. If they can win at Trask then I hold out some hope for the tournament.
